The Higher League of the 74th Russian Championship and the 71st Russian Women's Championship is scheduled to be held in Cheboksary from June 25 till July 6, 2021. 

The event is held subject to compliance with the requirements of the authorisation acts adopted as part of the fight against COVID-19 on the territory of the Chuvash Republic as well as with the Regulations on organisation of the official sports events in Russia in the context of maintaining risks of COVID-19 spreading confirmed by the Russian Minister of Sport Oleg Matytsin and the Top sanitary official of Russia Anna Popova.

All participants (players, accompanying persons, coaches, arbiters, the OC members and others) are to comply with the Regulations on the infectious safety.  

The event is a 9-round Swiss tournament with one rest day. 

The match days: June 26-30 and July 2-5. July 1 is the tournament's free day. All rounds start at 3 PM (Moscow time). 

The venue is the Cheboksary Arena ice palace.  

Time control: 90 minutes for the first 40 moves then 30 minutes for the rest of the game with 30 seconds increment per move starting from the first. Players are allowed to be late for their games for no more than 15 minutes. 

The total prize fund is 5,000,000 rubles. 

Top 5 finishers in each tournament receive the right to play in the 2021 Russian Championships Superfinals.
