Chess is one of the 35 athletic disciplines to be represented at the World Friendship Games. The chess competitions will run from September 23 (arrival day) to September 29 (departure day), 2024, in Moscow, at the Grand Sports Arena of the Luzhniki Olympic Complex.
 
Six sets of medals are up for grabs in the following disciplines:
 
Blitz, Open – 110 participants;
 
Blitz, Women – 110 participants;
 
Rapid, Open – 110 participants;
 
Rapid, Women – 110 participants;
 
Blitz, teams (mix, a man and a woman) - 55 pairs;
 
Rapid, teams (mix, a man and a woman) - 55 pairs.
 

Each of the six competitions features the following prize fund:
 
1st place – $40,000
 
2nd place – $25,000
 
3rd place – $17,000
 
Each country is entitled to no more than 2 players (1 male and 1 female, aged at least 18 years).  In addition to the players, the team also includes one coach. 
 
Blitz competitions are played using the Swiss system in 11 rounds with a time control of 3 minutes for the entire game for each participant plus a 2-second increment for each move made, starting with the first move.
 
Rapid competitions are played using the Swiss system in 9 rounds with a time control of 10 minutes for the entire game for each participant plus a 5-second increment for each move made, starting with the first move.

The Organizing Committee will provide all participants and coaches with free air tickets and free accommodation with three meals a day in double rooms in hotels of at least 4* category.
