Aeroflot Open 2020

The International Chess Festival "Aeroflot Open 2020" will be held in Moscow from 18 February to 29 February in the Cosmos Hotel. One of the oldest and most popular open chess tournaments will be held in the Russian capital for the 18th time.

Three Open Tournaments (A, B and C) are made up according to the rating of the participants, and are 9-round Swiss tournaments. Naturally, the greatest interest is aroused by A tournament, requiring from a participant a rating above 2550 and in which usually take part a number of extra class players.

The total prize fund is EUR 120,000. For the first time in the Festival's history, the children's chess festival "Anatoly Karpov Open" will be held as well as a traditional blitz tournament with a prize fund of EUR 20,000.

There will also be special prizes for the best performance among seniors, women and juniors in all tournaments. Only one prize can be awarded to a player (the highest one).

The Organizers of the Festival are the PJSC Aeroflot – Russian Airlines, Chess Federation of Russia, and Association of Chess Federations.
