Four Players Lead Russian Championship Superfinal Before the Last Round

On December 13, round 10 of the Russian Championships Superfinals among men and women was played in the State Museum of Political History of Russia in Saint Petersburg.  

In the open tournament, Peter Svilder defeated Vladimir Fedoseev, Vladimir Malakhov outplayed Sergey Volkov, while Sanan Sjugirov lost to Alexander Riazantsev. The games Inarkiev - Tomashevsky, Matlakov - Romanov, and Vitiugov - Dubov.  were drawn.



Standings after round 10:

1-4. Vladimir Fedoseev, Nikita Vitiugov, Peter Svidler, Vladimir Malakov - 6
5-7. Daniil Dubov, Evgeny Tomashevsky, Alexander Riazantsev - 5.5
8. Ernesto Inarkiev - 5
9. Sanan Sjugirov - 4.5
10. Maxim Matlakov - 4
11-12. Sergey Volkov, Evgeny Romanov - 3. 

Round 11 pairings:

Dubov - Inarkiev, Volkov - Vitiugov, Svidler - Malakhov, Romanov - Fedoseev, Riazantsev - Matlakov, Tomashevsky - Sjugirov.

In the women’s section, Valentina Gunina lost to Oksana Gritsayeva, Aleksandra Goryachkina outplayed Evgenija Ovod, while Anastasia Bodnaruk bested Alina Kashlinskaya. The games  Pogonina - Shuvalova, Girya - Kovalevskaya, and Galliamova - Nechaeva, Gunina - Gritsayeva ended in a draw.

3. Olga Girya - 6
4-6, Alina Kashlinskaya, Valentina Gunina, Anastasia Bodnaruk - 5.5
7-9. Polina Shuvalova, Marina Nechaeva, Oksana Gritsayeva - 4.5
10. Evgenija Ovod - 4
11-12. Ekaterina Kovalevskaya, Alisa Galliamova - 3.5.

Round 11 pairings:

Gritsayeva - Pogonina, Nechaeva - Gunina, Kashlinskaya - Galliamova, Kovalevskaya - Bodnaruk, Ovod - Girya, Shuvalova - Goryachkina.

The final 11th round will start at 1 p.m. Moscow time. In case of a tie for the 1st place by two or more participants, an additional rapid competition is played to determine the winner.
