Women's World Championship Match Begins In Lviv
Mariya Muzychuk plays White in the first game.
The opening ceremony of the Women's World Chess Championship took place in Lviv Opera on Tuesday, March 1.
The ceremony was attended by Lviv mayor Andrey Sadovy, FIDE Vice-President Georgios Makropoulos, and Ukraine Chess Federation President Viktor Kapustin.
Before the drawing of lots, the guest enjoyed a concert with ballet dancers, virtuoso violinist Alexander Bozhik, tenor quartet, and singer Hristina Solovey.
The drawing of lots gave White the World Champion, Mariya Muzychuk.
