World Senior Championships Finish in Bled

Russians win five medals.

The World Senior Championships in the age categories "50+" and "65+" are concluded in Bled, Slovenia. Men and women played separately. 

Karen Movsziszian (Armenia) won the "50+" World Senior Championship having scored 8.5 points out of 11 and edged out Giorgi Bagaturov. Zurab Sturua (both from Georgia) took the third place with 8 points. 

Elvira Berend (Luxembourg) won the "50+" Women's World Senior Championship with 8.5 points. Tatiana Grabuzova (2nd place) and Galina Strutinskaia (3rd place, both from Russia) are half a point behind. 

Vlastimil Jansa (Czech Republic) and Yuri Balashov (Russia) shared the 1st place in the "65+" tournament with 9.5 points. The Czech grandmaster became the champion thanks to his superior tie-break. Nukhim Rashkovsky (Russia) won the bronze medal with 8.5 points. 

The 5th Women's World Champion Nona Gaprindashvili (Georgia) became the winner of the "65+ World Senior Championship among women having scored 8.5 points. Valentina Kozlovskaya (Russia) is half a point behind. Ludmila Tsifanskaya (3rd place, Israel) and Natalia Titorenko (4th place, Russia) have got 7.5 points both.
