Sergey Karjakin: I Was Happy to Support Two Hospitals

Grandmaster sent his share of support to institutions in Simferopol.

 
Financial aid, personal protective equipment and medical supplies, gathered as part of the Play for Russia charity tournament in favour of health workers, are on their way to the destination regions. 
 
Sergey Karjakin has sent his share of support to the medical institutions in the Republic of Crimea. The grandmaster has transferred 700 thousand rubles to Simferopol Clinical Emergency Hospital No.6. Simferopol City Clinical Hospital No. 7 has received as many as 5000 medical masks, 2000 FFP3 respirators, 700 medical protective suits, 600 pairs of disposable medical goggles, and 3000 disposable medical gloves.
 
Sergey Karjakin: "I was more than happy to support two hospitals. PPE has been sent to Clinical Hospital No. 7, and we have preliminary agreed with Clinical Emergency Hospital No.6 that they would spend 700 thousand rubles to buy an ambulance vehicle and other necessary equipment. I thank everyone who has taken part in this project, donated money and participated in the organisation, and, of course, the event mastermind, Vladimir Kramnik."

The donation pool from Play for Russia tournament in favour of health workers has amounted to 25 million 600 thousand rubles.

Regardless of final tournament standings, the total prize pool has been shared equally among regional hospitals (specializing, above all, in the patients suffering from the coronavirus) and charity organizations. Going into the tournament, the participants determined the health institutions to receive financial support. 

Co-supported by the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, the Elena and Gennady Timchenko Charitable Foundation, the RAMAX group of companies" and Gazprombank (Switzerland), Play for Russia tournament was organized by the Chess Federation of Russia at the initiative of its participants.
