Russians Shine at Asian Schools Championships

The competition finished in Tashkent.

July 20, the Asian Schools Championships finished in Tashkent. A total of about 400 players out of many countries, including India, Australia, New Zealand, China, Qatar, Sri Lanka and many others, took part in the competition. Representing Russia were five athletes.

The first game day saw competitions in rapid chess, in which Alexander Khripachenko took second place in the U17 age group, and Olesia Vlasova triumphed in the U15 age group.

The classical chess tournament ended with a gold medal for Alexander Khripachenko, while the U15 age group had Nomina Darmaeva as one of prize-takers with the bronze medal under her belt.

The blitz tournament favoured our athletes in the least degree with only two fourth places to their credit. Nominа Darmaeva and Alexander Khripachenko were in the share of prizes until the last round, but they were unlucky to have dropped half a point somewhere along the way, and additional tiebreakers would not side with them as a result.

All in all, high level of management and great interest to this competition from Asian athletes is worth highlighting.
