Russian Youth Championships Start in Sochi

Tournament to be held in AquaLoo resort on April 15-30.

The main and the most large scale children's event of the year in our country - the Russian youth championships - will take place in AquaLoo resort (Loo, Sochi, Krasnodar Krai) from April 15 till April 30.

The following competitions will be held: Russian youth chess solving championship (April 16-17), Russian youth rapid championship (April 18-19), Russian youth championships and all-Russian competition «First League» (April 20-28), and Russian youth blitz championship (April 29). 

The events will be played in seven age categories: boys and girls under 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, and 21 years old. 

In general, 1500 young chess players from 80 Russian regions are expected to take part in the event. 

The opening ceremony will be held on April 19.  

According to the Regulations, the participants, who take 1st and 2nd places in the classical championship in their age categories, are directed to take part in the world or European youth championships, by the decision of the RCF. Winners of the U19 championships (boys and girls) get the right to participate in the Russian championship Higher League among men and women. The Russian junior U21 champions (boys and girls) gain the right to take part in the world junior championship and qualify for the Russian championship Higher League among men and women.

Traditionally, an extensive additional programme will be organized for participants and accompanying persons which will include arbiters' seminars for children and adults, refresher courses for coaches, and various sport competitions.

The tournament is organized by the Russian Chess Federation with the support of the general partner of the RCF PhosAgro, the general sponsor of the Russian national chess teams Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System, and Construction Group of Companies «Don».
