Russian Women’s Team Wins ETCC With One Round to Go

In round 8 of the European Team Championship in Crete, the Russian women’s team defeated Turkey 4-0 to win the tournament with 1 round to go and repeat the success at ETCC-2015.  Our chess players have scored 15 match points. The teams from Georgia and Poland are 3 points behind.  

In the ultimate round 9, the Russian women’s team will face Armenia.

In the men’s section, the Russian national team lost to Azerbaijan 1-3 (Maxim Matlakov won, Alexander Grischuk, Ian Nepomniachtchi, and Daniil Dubov lost their games).

The Azerbaijani team is leading the race before the last round - 13 match points. Russia and Ukraine are trailing by 1 point. 

The leaders’ matches in round 9 are Azerbaijan - Ukraine and Germany - Russia.
