Russian Teams Fight for Medals at European Club Cup

The decisive round of European Club Cup is to be played in Greece on October 18th. The Norwegian team Valerenga headed by Magnus Carlsen is leading the race with 11 match points. Obiettivo Risarcimento Padova (Italy), AVE Novy Bor (Czech Republic), Mednyi Vsadnik, and Molodezhka (both from Russia) are 1 point behind. 

In the final seventh round, Mednyi Vsadnik is to play against Valerenga, while Molodezhka's opponent is Obiettivo Risarcimento Padova.

In the women's event, the Russian clubs Ugra and SSHOR lost in the semi-finals and will determine the bronze medalist in the match for the 3rd place. The final will see the encounter between Nona (Georgia) and Cercle d'Echecs de Monte-Carlo (Monaco).
