Russia loses to Cuba at the Men's Teams
The defending champions suffered two match losses in two rounds.

In the second round of the World Team Championship (Tsaghkadzor, Armenia) Russia lost 1.5-2.5 to Cuba. Alexander Grischuk lost to Lenier Dominguez, and three other games were drawn – Bruzon-Karjakin, Tomashevsky-Quesada, Gonzalez-Vitiugov.
Armenia defeated Ukraine 2.5-1.5. Three other matches were drawn – India-USA, Hungary-China, and Egypt-Israel.
Standings after the round 2:
1. Cuba – 4 (5.5 board points), 2. India – 3 (5), 3-4. China and Israel – both 3 (4.5), 5-6. Armenia and Ukraine – both 2 (4), 7. USA – 1 (3.5), 8-9. Hungary and Egypt – both 1 (3), 10. Russia – 0 (3).
Round 3 pairings:
Israel-India, Ukraine-Egypt, Cuba-Armenia, China-Russia, USA-Hungary.
