Round 3 of FIDE World Cup Kicks Off in Baku

Saturday, August 5, Round 3 of the FIDE World Cup began in Baku – the 1/32 in the Open section and 1/16 in the Women’s tournament. With half as many tables unoccupied in the game room, there was enough room for spectators. They are fond of chess in Baku, and it being a Saturday afternoon, some hundred and fifty fans, inclusive of many children, showed up at the Marriott Hotel Boulevard. They were admitted into the playing hall in small groups. They came to look at the heavyweights, took pictures and then relocated to the hall to watch the broadcast and play chess themselves. The most stubborn stayed until the end of the round to ask the world's leading grandmasters for autographs and a photo together.

After Round tiebreak, there remain nine Russian chess players in Baku. Here are results of their games from the first day of Round 3:
