Return Games of Round Two Played at FIDE World Cup in Sochi
As many as 30 matchups are to be decided on tie-break.
It became known before the round that two Indonesian female players, Medina Warda Aulia and Irine Harisma Sukandar, had upon agreement with the organizers t withdrew from game two of round two not to put the health of other athletes at risk. However, both participants are doing well and tested negative. As a result, their respective opponents, Dronavalli Harika and Valentina Gunina, have advanced to round three.
The symbolic move one in the game M. Carlsen - S. Martinovic was made by Kamil Gadzhiev, the Fight Nights promotion company president.
Most of the favorites have made it to round three: world champion Magnus Carlsen (Norway), the Russian players Alexander Grischuk, Sergey Karjakin, Dmitry Andreikin, Nikita Vitiugov, Peter Svidler, Evgeny Tomashevsky, Anish Giri (the Netherlands), Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France), Jan-Krzysztof Duda (Poland), Anton Korobov (Ukraine), Boris Gelfand (Israel) and other famous athletes have defeated their lower-rated opponents.

In the women's section, the Russians Alexandra Goryachkina, Ekaterina Lagno, Polina Shuvalova, Alina Kashlinskaya, Alexandra Kosteniuk, the Ukrainians Mariya and Anna Muzychuk, Anna Ushenina, Nana Dzagnidze (Georgia), Tan Zhongyi (China), Antoaneta Stefanova (Bulgaria) and others have won their matches.
The Russian derby Olga Girya - Leia Garifullina was won by the latter. In the match of Kazakh chess players Zh. Abdumalik - B. Assaubayeva, Zhansaya managed to equalize the score and send the match to the tiebreaker.

Two (2) tie-break games are played with time control of 25 minutes for each player + 10 seconds increment per move, beginning with move one. If the score is level, two games are played with time control of 10 minutes for each player + 10 seconds increment per move. If the score is still level, two games are played with time control of 5 minutes for each player + 3 seconds increment per move. If the score is still level, one Armageddon game is played. The player with the white pieces gets 5 minutes; the player with the black pieces gets 4 minutes with a draw favoring Black.
