Polina Shuvalova Placed Third at Tata Steel Chess India Women's Rapid

Blitz tournament is ahead.

The women's round-robin event Tata Steel Chess India 2023 is taking place in Kolkata. The rapid tournament was held from 31 August to 2 September. 

The rapid event was won by Divya Deshmukh (India), who scored 7 points out of 9. The World Women's Champion Ju Wenjun (China) is half a point behind. The Russian Polina Shuvalova took third place with 5.5 points scored. 

The prize-winners are followed by: 4. Harika Dronavalli - 4.5, 5-7. Agrawal Vantika, Humpy Koneru (all from India), Anna Ushenina (Ukraine) - 4, 8-9. Shri Savitha (India), Irina Krush (USA) - 3.5, 10. Nino Batsiashvili (Georgia) - 2.5.

The double round-robin women's blitz tournament will take place on 3-4 September.

The open tournament with the same system of play will be organised in Kolkata on 5-9 September. Alexander Grischuk is among the participants.
