Petyunki Won Russian Bughouse Championship

The event was played alongside Russian Team Championships.

On Saturday, May 6, Grand Hotel Zhemchuzhina hosted the 3rd Russian Open Bughouse Championship. 30 teams took part in the qualification event, which was a 9-round Swiss. The teams included such famous players and Ian Nepomniachtchi, Anton Korobov, Evgeny Alekseev, Dmitry Bocharov, Pavel Maletin, etc. 16 strongest teams continued in a KO format. 

The team Petyunki – grandmasters Kirill Alekseenko and Daniil Yuffa – took first place, beating the defending champions Rostelecom (Konstantin Krylov and Oleg Gavrilov) 2-1 in the finals. In the match for the 3rd place, Khova and Boss (Marat Denishev and Gleb Apryshko) defeated Vastra (Oleg Vostrukhin and Evgeny Alekseev). 

The prize fund of the championship was 200,000 roubles. The tournament was funded and initiated by IM Vladimir Shumilin, who also participated in the event.
