Mikhail Kobalia and Volodar Murzin Play Chess in Extreme Conditions
The match was held at -52 degrees Celsius in Yakutsk.

For the first time in the history of chess, a match was held in extreme weather conditions. Grandmasters Mikhail Kobalia and Volodar Murzin played chess in the central square of Yakutsk at -52 degrees Celsius. The match ended in a draw 1-1.
The record-breaking encounter was organised during the Head of the Sakha Republic Cup, the first stage of the Russian Cup, which is taking place in Yakutsk from 24 January to 1 February.
