Anton Korobov Wins Poikovsky Tournament

Viorel Bologan finished second due to an inferior tie-break.

In the 9th round of the Poikovsky tournament Denis Khismatullin defeated Alexander Morozevich, and Ilya Smirin won against Alexei Shirov. Games Bologan-Lysyj, Korobov-Laznicka, and Inarkiev-Sutovsky ended in a draw.

Thus, the Ukrainian grandmaster Anton Korobov won the event with 6 points in 9 games. Viorel Bologan (Moldova) also scored 6 points, but his tie-break score was worse. Three players shared the third place – Ernesto Inarkiev (Russia), Emil Sutovsky (Israel), and Denis Khismatullin (Russia). Inarkiev had the best tie-break and was awarded the third place.
