Khanty-Mansiysk Reception Takes Place in Batumi

Event was held in Arkady Dvorkovich Team Chess Lounge.

 

On September 39, the Arkady Dvorkovich Team Chess Lounge saw a reception of Khanty-Manisysk, a city which will host World Chess Olympiad in 2020. Governor of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra Natalya Komarova, President of the Georgian Chess Federation Giorgi Giorgadze, President of the Russian Chess Federation Andrey Filatov, FIDE presidential candidate Arkady Dvorkovich, and the 5th world women’s champion Nona Gapindashvili delivered speeches. 

The speakers thanked the organizers of the World Chess Olympiad in Batumi for a warm welcome and wished success to Khanty-Mansiysk in holding the Olympiad in 2020. In his emotional speech, Andrey Filatov expressed his best wishes to a hospitable Yugra, where many all-Russian and international chess events are organized, and called upon the delegates to support Arkady Dvorkovich’s candidature in the forthcoming FIDE presidential elections.   

A creative part of the evening saw several artistic performances of laureates of many international competitions Dmitri Illarionov (classical guitar) and Nikolay Sivchuk (bayan) as well as the Georgian musical band. A chess quiz was also held and became quite popular among the guests.
