Ivan Saric Wins European Individual Championship

The European Individual Championship finished in Batumi, Georgia. Ivan Saric (Croatia) won the tournament with 8.5 points out of 11. 

Radoslaw Wojtaszek (Poland), Gawain Jones (England), Sanan Sjugirov, Maxim Matlakov (both from Russia), Anton Korobov (Ukraine), Luke McShane (England), and Eltaj Safarli (Azerbaijan) are half a point behind. Thanks to the superior tie-break, Wojtaszek became second, while Sjugirov won a bronze medal. 

According to FIDE regulations and the decision of the ECU Board, 23 players qualify for the next World Cup. Among those who have qualified are the Russian players Sanan Sjugirov, Maxim Matlakov, Evgeniy Najer, Anton Demchenko, Daniil Yuffa, Ernesto Inarkiev, and Alexey Sarana.
