First Games of Altibox Norway Chess Super Tournament Held in Stavanger
Magnus Carlsen and Levon Aronian played Armageddon.
The Altibox Norway Chess 2020 super tournament, the first big OTB chess event from the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, started in Stavanger on October 5. In case of a draw, the grandmasters play one Armageddon game.
In the first round, Fabiano Caruana defeated Aryan Tari as Black, Alireza Firouzja beat Jan-Krzysztof Duda with the black pieces as well, while Magnus Carlsen won against Levon Aronian in the Armageddon game.
Players will get following points per round:
Victory main game: 3 points
Loss main game: 0 points
Draw main game & victory Armageddon: 1.5 points
Draw main game & loss Armageddon: 1 point.
