First Chess Simul Takes Place in Moscow Metro

The event was held at the Kurskaya station.

The first-ever simultaneous exhibition in the Moscow metro took place at the Kurskaya station (one of the most ancient and well-known stations of the city) on December 13. The event which attracted chess amateurs and passengers lasted for 2 hours.

A 30-board sumil, which was given by GMs Vadim Zvjaginsev and Sergey Janovsky, was organized by the Moscow Metro and Chess Federation of Russia.

Before the start, a short press briefing featuring Deputy Director of the Moscow Metro Yulia Temnikova and CFR Executive Director Mark Glukhovsky was held.

Around 50 chess amateurs including children, veterans, and passengers took part in the simultaneous exhibition. During the first hour of play, spectators joined the event when a participant lost his or her game.

A young Stanislav Bukreev managed to defeat Vadim Zvjaginsev. In other games, the grandmasters showed their high class and won against their rivals. All participants were presented with chess books from the organizers.
