FIDE Receives Arkady Dvorkovich's Nomination Form for Presidential Elections 2018

13 countries support the Russian candidate.

FIDE confirmed that it had received the documents from the Head of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee Arkady Dvorkovich for the participation in the forthcoming FIDE Presidential elections. 13 national federations supported the Russian candidate. 

The RCF Supervisory Board elected Arkady Dvorkovich as candidate for the FIDE Presidency from the Russian Chess Federation (22 out of 24 votes in favour) on June 27th. On June 29th, Mr. Dvorkovich confirmed his nomination as candidate for the FIDE Presidency. 

Chess federations of Azerbaijan, Belarus, France, Ghana, Iraq, Moldova, Mongolia, Nicaragua, Qatar, Russia, Sudan, Togo, and Tunisia supposed the candidacy of Arkady Dvorkovich.   

From 2007 till 2014, Arkady Dvorkovich held key positions in the Russian Chess Federation. Many tournaments have been organized under his patronage.  

FIDE Presidential elections are taking place as part of the FIDE General Assembly in Batumi, Georgia, on October 3, 2018.
