European School Chess Championship Finishes in Krakow

The European School Chess Championship took place in Krakow, Poland, from June 30th till July 8th. More than 350 young chess players, including 45 Russians, were fighting for medals and prizes in age categories under 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, and 17 years old (boys and girls). 

Russian players won eight medals: five gold, two silver, and one bronze ones.  

Lev Zverev came third in the open U9 championship. Evelina Zavivaeva won the tournament among girls under 9 years old. 

Gordey Kolesov won gold medal in the U11 open group. Yana Korovina took the second place among girls of the same age category.  

Vladimir Efremov became the winner of the championship among boys under 13 years old.  Sofiia Kasaeva won the U13 girls' school championship, while Emilia Zavivaeva is second. 

Margarita Zvereva won the U15 girls' tournament.
