Ding Liren Takes the Lead in Grand Chess Tour Final

Carlsen miraculously escapes in the second game against Aronian.

The second games of the 2019 Grand Chess Tour Final were played in London on December 7.

The Chinese grandmaster fixed the victory with a beautiful trick in an overwhelming position. The score is 9-3 in favour of Ding Liren (there are 6 points for a win and 3 points for a draw in classic games).

In the match for the third place, Levon Aronian got a hefty advantage against Magnus Carlsen but the world champion was defending very persistently and ingeniously and finally survived. The score is 9-3 in favour of Magnus Carlsen.

There will be 2 rapid and 4 blitz games (and a tiebreak if required) on December 8.
