China Wins a Blitz Warm-Up Against Russia

The classical part of the match is to follow.

Traditional China-Russia chess summit started in Ningbo. A blitz match was played on the first day. China won 54-46 (men 26-24, women 28-22), thus securing a superior tie-break if the classical match is tied. 

Tan Zhongyi (2488) and Lei Tingjie (2450) showed the best result, collecting 8.5/10. Valentina Gunina (2548) was strongest in the Russian women's team, scoring 6 points. In men's competition the scores were distributed more evenly. Lu Shanglei (2595) and Yu Yangyi (2736) scored 6 points, Vladimir Fedoseev (2664) and Damiil Dubov (2661) had 5.5 points. 

The classical part of the summit begins on July 15.
