Genrikh Chepukaitis Memorial Blitz to be Held in St. Petersburg
The event will be played on September 6 in the Ekaterininsky Public Garden.
St. Petersburg Chess Federation and Overtime Chess Club organize an annual blitz tournament commemorating the legendary blitz player Genrikh Chepukaitis. The tournament will be attended by grandmasters Peter Svidler, Nikita Vitiugov, Maxim Matlakov, Konstantin Sakaev, Sergey Ivanov, Alexey Goganov, Vassily Yemelin, Denis Evseev, and Evgeny Levin.
WGM Irina Sudakova, WIMs Alina Balayan, Nina Sirotkina, Julia Gromova, and Mariya Butuk will fight for women's prizes.
There will also be a number of strong amateurs, former chess professionals and semi-professionals, who succeeded in other careers in business, law, and science, including Professor of Geography IM Igor Blekhtsin, CEO and Vice-President of VTB Bank Alexander Olkhovsky, and CEO of Hotel St. Petersburg IM Andrey Petelin.
