CFR Calls Handshake Between Russian and Ukrainian Players Great News
Andrey Filatov gave a comment to the Sport-Express newspaper.
President of the Chess Federation of Russia Andrey Filatov commented on the news about the handshake between the Russian chess player Vladislav Artemiev and the Ukrainian grandmaster Yuriy Kuzubov before and after Round 7 game at the FIDE Grand Swiss. The encounter was won by the Ukrainian athlete.
"This is great news. Sport should unite people, not divide them", said Mr Filatov to the Sport-Express newspaper.
On July 29, the Ukrainian Chess Federation advised its players not to shake hands with Russian and Belarusian representatives at chess events.
