Boris Gelfand and Ian Nepomniachtchi Lead Gideon Japhet Cup

A big chess festival in memory of Gideon Japhet is taking place in Jerusalem. Rounds 1 and 2 were played in the main rapid double round-robin tournament (time control: 15+10). Boris Gelfand (Israel) defeated Georg Meier (Germany) 1.5-0.5, Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia) beat Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukraine) with the same score, while Peter Svidler (Russia) and Anna Muzychuk (Ukraine) drew both games.
