Igor Blekhtsin Turns 75!
Professor and master celebrates his birthday.
Igor Yakovlevich Blekhtsin celebrates his 75th birthday on April 13. He is an international master, winner of USSR team championship (1960), runner-up of the Leningrad championship (1962) and USSR junior championship (1959), Vice-President of St. Petersburg chess federation, Ph. D. in Geography, Professor of the St. Petersburg University of Economics and Finances.
Among the former students of Igor Yakovlevich are many famous scientists and businessmen, including Alexey Miller, head of Gazprom corporation. Professor Blekhtsin was one of the main driving forces creating the Bronze Horseman – a chess superclub in St. Petersburg.
