Andrey Filatov Receives FIDE Senior Trainer Title
The RCF President brought Russian national team to bronze medals at the Chess Olympiad in Baku.
Andrey Vassilyevich Filatov was born on December 18, 1971, in Krivoy Rog. Studied chess at DYuSSh #9 of Dnepropetrovsk, where he became a candidate master. In 1993 graduated from the Academy of Physical Culture and Sport of the Republic of Belarus as a physical culture teacher and chess trainer.
Was elected the RCF President on February 1, 2014, at the Russian Chess Federation Congress. On August 13, 2014, was elected the FIDE Vice-President at the FIDE Congress in Tromsoe, Norway. Head of the Chess in Museums FIDE Committee.
On January 1, 2016, Andrey Filatov became a head coach of Russian men's national team. At the Chess Olympiad in Baku (September 2016), Russian team, led by Mr. Filatov, won bronze medals.
