Andrey Esipenko and David Paravyan are Among Leaders in Gibraltar

Shakhriyar Mamedyarov missed the game due to being ill.

The 8th round of the Masters tournament at the Gibraltar International Chess Festival was played on January 28.

Top seed Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Azerbaijan) didn't appear for his game vs. R. Praggnanandhaa (India) due to health problems, so his opponent got a point without playing.

All other leaders' games were drawn.  Andrey Esipenko, David Paravyan (both from Russia), Parham Maghsoodloo (Iran), and Wang Hao (China) are heading the race with 6.5 points.

The Russians Mikhail Kobalia and Mikhail Antipov are in the chasing pack with 6 points.
