The ninth round of the European Individual Championship was played in Vrnjacka Banja, Serbia. Having defeated Anton Korobov (Ukraine), the Russian Alexey Sarana has become the sole leader with 7.5 points. Seven players, including Andrey Esipenko and David Paravyan, are trailing by half a point behind the leader. The Russian participants are playing under the FIDE flag.
