Young Russian Players Toe the Starting Line of the World Cadets Chess Championship

The tournament is taking place in Pocos de Caldas, Brazil.

Brazil is hosting the World Cadets Chess Championship among boys and girls under 8, 10 and 12 years old. The leading Russian players Savva Vetokhin, Elizaveta Kanter, Leonid Lystsov, Galina Mikheeva, Alexandra Shvedova, and Galina Mironenko are fighting for the medals. The U12 open group, where Volodar Murzin, Martin Stukan and the current champion of Russia in their age category Ilya Makoveev are taking part, attracts a special interest. 

On August 23, round 2 and 3 are played.
