Magnus Carlsen Wins Altibox Norway Chess with One Round to Go

The World Champion defeated Yu Yangyi in classical chess.

The penultimate 8th round of the Altibox Norway Chess super tournament was played in Stavanger on June 13. In classical chess, Magnus Carlsen beat Yu Yangyi to win (with one round to spare) his 6th super tournament in a row. 

Fabiano Caruand defeated Levon Aronian. The games Mamedyarov - So, Vachier-Lagrave - Ding Liren, and Grischuk - Anand were drawn.

Maxime Vachier-Lagrave and Viswanathan Anand excelled in Armageddon. The game Mamedyarov - So ended in a draw in favour of the American grandmaster.
