Kings Defeat Princes in Second Round of Nutcracker-2018

Girls pull ahead.


The second round of the traditional generation tournament Nutcracker-2018 was played in the Central Chess Club in Moscow on December 18. FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich became the tournament's guest again.  

In the "Kings" vs. "Princes" match-tournament, Boris Gelfand defeated Andrey Esipenko, while the games Najer - Lomasov, Paravyan - Leko, and Sarana - Short were drawn. 

The score is 9-7 in favour of "Princes" (in standard chess, players are awarded 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a lost game). 

Round 3 pairings:

Sarana - Gelfand, Esipenko - Najer, Leko - Lomasov, Short - Paravyan.

In the Boys and Girls’ tournament, Kamaliya Bulatova bested Ilya Makoveev, Alexandra Obolentseva beat Robert Safin, Aleksandra Dimitrova lost to Aleksey Grebnev, while the game Murzin - Goltseva ended in a draw.  



The score is 10-6 in favour of Team Girls.

Round 3 pairings:

Dimitrova - Murzin, Goltseva - Makoveev, Safin - Bulatova, Grebnev - Obolentseva.

There is both online and video broadcast with grandmasters' commentaries organized on the RCF website. Chess lovers are welcome to visit the tournament and listen to grandmasters commenting on the games. The entrance is free.
