Halkidiki Hosts World Youth Championships

The FIDE World Youth Championships among boys and girls under 14, 16, and 18 years old have started in Greece. Russia is represented by an impressive delegation, which includes the leading country's young players: Alexey Sarana, Alexandr Triapishko, Timur Fakhrutdinov, Andrey Esipenko, Volodar Murzin, Kirill Shubin, Dmitry Tsoi, Polina Shuvalova, Anna Afonasieva, Alexandra Obolentseva, Aleksandra Dimitrova, Ekaterina Goltseva, Aleksandra Maltsevskaya, Elizaveta Solozhenkina, Tatyana Getman, Ekaterina Miroshnik, Kamaliya Bulatova, Leya Garifullina, Galina Mironenko and others

The event has begun with the rapid championship. After 4 rounds, the Russian players are leading in all age groups: Leya Garifullina is sharing 1-3 places in the G14 group with 3.5 points; Kamilla Baiburina is half a point behind. Tatyana Getman is splitting 1-2 places in the G16 group with 3.5 points, while Ekaterina Goltseva is trailing by half a point. Alexandra Obolentseva is leading the U18 category with a perfect score, while Polina Shuvalova is half point behind: the Russian derby is ahead. 

In the open event, Dmitry Tsoi, who made a draw with an Uzbek prodigy Nodirbek Abdusattorov, is sharing 1-3 places in the U14 group. Andrey Esipenko is half a point behind the leader of the U16 group Ramazan Zhalmakhanov (Kazakhstan). Alexey Sarana has a perfect score in the U18 category, while Alexandr Triapishko is trailing by half a point: the Russian derby is to be played here as well.
