Four Players Head Russian Championship Superfinal in Izhevsk
Olga Girya maintains leadership in the women's event.
The fifth round of the Russian Championships Superfinals was played in Izhevsk on August 15.
In the open event, Alexey Dreev defeated Vladislav Artemiev with the white pieces. Black missed a strong opponent blow in a time trouble and lost material.
Evgeny Tomashevsky celebrated a strategical victory over Vladimir Fedoseev to become one of the tournament's leaders.
Ernesto Inarkiev saved a tough position as Black and then outplayed Dmitry Jakovenko to join the leading group.
The games Sarana - Motylev, Vitiugov - Matlakov, and Alekseenko - Predke were drawn.

In the women's event, Valentina Gunina defeated Margarita Potapova having shown a great technique.
Anastasia Bodnaruk beat Zarina Shafigullina by catching the opponent's queen at the edge of the board.
Alexandra Kosteniuk created a dangerous attack upon Daria Charochkina's king but then she was not very precise, and it seemed that the worst was over for Black. Nonetheless, the 12th women's world champion still managed to win the game.
Elena Tomilova was close to beating Aleksandr Goryachkina but one wrong decision helped the challenger save the game.
The key match of the day Pogonina - Girya and the game Shuvalova - Kashlinskaya also ended in a draw.
