First Games Played in Russian Youth Championship in Sochi
Not all participants arrive in time.
The Russian Youth Championship (classical chess) started in AquaLoo resort. Rating favourites lost their first games in many age categories, and it is worth mentioning that some encounters ended with "+-" or "-+" results.
In the U21 junior championship, David Paravyan defeated Alexandr Triapishko, Aleksey Sarana bested Maxim Vavulin, Semen Lomasov outplayed Andrey Drygalov, while the games Khanin - Yeletsky and Lobanov Ofitserian were drawn. In the girls' tournament, Zalina Lingur won against Ekaterina Diakonova, Alena Korchagina defeated Anna Afonasieva, and the games Goltseva - Khokhlova and Obolentseva - Protopopova ended in a draw. Aleksandra Maltevskaya didn't come in time for the first round from the European Women's Championship and her rival Margarita Potapova got "+". The player from Moscow region will start the competition from round 2.
