In the fifth round of the Sinquefield Cup in Saint Louis, Ding Liren defeated Anish Giri, Ian Nepomniachtchi outplayed Hikaru Nakamura, while the games Vachier-Lagrave - Anand, So - Caruana, Aronian - Mamedyarov, and Carlsen - Karjakin were drawn.
