Bashkirian Team Wins Russian Championship Among Village Schoolchildren

Ilya Fomintsev and Kamilla Baiburina show best individual results.

The 15th All-Russian individual and team chess competition among schoolchildren living in a rural area finished in Kinel-Cherkassy, Samara Oblast. 

The team from Chishminsky District, the Republic of Bashkortostan, won the event with 27 points. The team from Medvedevsky District, the Mari El Republic, is 1 point behind. Chess players from Volzhsky District, Samara Oblast, became third with 23.5 points. 

Kamilla Baiburina (Chishminsky District, the Republic of Bashkortostan) won the girls’ event having scored 8.5/9. Ekaterina Nasyrova (Medvedevsky District, the Mari El Republic) is second with 7.5 points. The third place was shared by 5 participants who have scored 6.5 points; thanks to her superior tie-break, Elizaveta Makarenko (Alekseevsky District, Belgorod Oblast) won the bronze medal. 

Ilya Fomintsev (Irbitsky District, Sverdlovsk Oblast) is the winner of the open tournament. He has got 7.5 points and is ahead of the sivler medalist Roman Aukhatov (Berezovsky District, Sverdlovsk Oblast) due to his better tiebreaker. Kirill Konnov (Volzhsky District, Samara Oblast) is third with 7 points. 

The Closing Ceremony took place at the district Palace of Culture. Local on-stage performance groups organized a real show with fine dancing and singing.  

The winners and prize-winners were rewarded with trophies, medals and memorable presents from the Russian Chess Federation. 

Head of Kinel-Cherkassy District Sergey Radko invited the players to the 16th All-Russian individual and team chess competition among schoolchildren living in a rural area and expressed a hope that the number of participants would grow from year to year.
