Sergey Karjakin and Dmitry Jakovenko Advance to the 4th Round
The tie-breaks of the 3rd round are played on September 19.
The classical part of the World Cup's 3rd round is now in the books. Two Russian players secured wins in short 2-game matches: Dmitry Jakovenko knocked out Vassily Ivanchuk 1.5-0.5, and Sergey Karjakin defeated Yu Yangyi with the same score.
Alexander Grischuk lost the second game to Pavel Eljanov as well, and was knocked out from the World Cup. Eljanov is the only player who won all his six games in Baku so far.
Five more Russian players will try to pass the 3rd round on the tie-break. Ina Nepomniachtchi plays with Hikaru Nakamura, Peter Svidler faces the challenge of Teimour Radjabov, Evgeny Tomashevsky meets Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, and Vladimir Kramnik and Dmitry Andreikin are playing each other.
