Wesley So Advances to Round 2 of FIDE Grand Prix Leg

Alexander Grischuk qualifies for the Candidates Tournament!

The second games of the first round of the final leg of FIDE Grand Prix Series organized by World Chess were played in Jerusalem on December 12. Wesley So defeated Yu Yangyi 1.5-0.5 to qualify for the next round.

The games Vachier-Lagrave - Topalov, Andreikin - Wojtaszek, Gelfand - Nepomniachtchi, Giri - Wei Yi, Karjakin - Harikrishna, Wang Hao - Navara, and Jakovenko - Mamedyarov were drawn.

The tiebreak games will be played on December 13.

Alexander Grischuk has already qualified for the Candidates Tournament as none of his pursuers won without a tiebreak in Jerusalem, so the Russian grandmaster has guaranteed one of the two GP qualification spots. Our congratulations!
