Volodar Murzin Finishes Second at Sharjah Masters

The traditional chess festival has ended in Sharjah. In the Masters tournament, 1-4 places were shared by Bardiya Daneshvar (Iran), Russian Volodar Murzin, Sam Shankland (USA), and Shamsiddin Vokhidov (Uzbekistan), who scored 6.5 points out of 9. This is the order in which the additional tiebreakers placed them. 
 
The 13-year-old Ivan Zemlyanskii, who the day before had made his final GM norm, defeated Indian grandmaster Leon Luke Mendonca in the final round as Black and finished 11th with 6 points under his belt. 
 
In the Challengers tournament there was also a share of prize places. Divya Deshmukh (India), Leya Garifullina (Russia), and Sina Movahed (Iran) scored 7 points each. According to additional tiebreakers, the Indian chess player became first, and the Russian is second.
