The quarterfinals of the Aimchess US Rapid, the 9th event of the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour, finished on Chess24.com on the 1st of September.
Quarterfinals:
Magnus Carlsen (Norway) won both matches against Jan-Krzysztof Duda (Poland) 2.5-0.5.
Vladislav Artemiev (Russia) and Leinier Dominguez (USA) made a draw in the first match, and then the Russian won the second encounter 3-1 to qualify for the semi-final.
Wesley So (USA) stroke back against Wesley So (France) after a loss in the first match. However, Firouzja won on tie-break 1.5-0.5.
Levon Aronian (Armenia) defeated Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Azerbaijan) in both matches.
