Evgeny Vasiukov Finishes Third at the European Seniors
Svetlana Mednikova wins the women's section.
The European Seniors Championship ended in Eretria, Greece.
Belgian IM Jan Rooze won the Open 65 event with 7.5, surpassing GM Viktor Kupreichik (Belarus) on a better tie-break. Russian grandmaster Evgeny Vasiukov finished third with 6.5 points. The fifth World Champion Nona Gaprindashvili showed the best result among women – 5.5 points.
GM Zurab Sturua (Georgia) won the Open 50 championship with 7.5 points. John Nunn (England) was second with 6.5 points, his compatriot Keith Arkell was third on a tie-break with 6 points. Svetlana Mednikova (Russia) was the strongest among women with 5.5 points.
