Valentina Gunina Takes the Lead in Skolkovo

Two rounds of FIDE Women's Grand Prix leg are played.

The second round of the FIDE Women's Grand Prix leg was played in the Skolkovo business centre on September 12. 

Valentina Gunina outplayed Alexandra Kosteniuk with the black pieces. The games Ju Wenjun - Harika, Sebag - Koneru, Kashlinskaya - Lagno, Kosteniuk - Gunina, Goryachkina - Paehtz, Cramling - Stefanova were drawn.  



Valentina Gunina has taken the sole lead with 2 points out of 2. The reigning world champion Ju Wenjun and the challenger Aleksandra Goryachkina are half a point behind.

Round 3 pairings: 

Stefanova - Ju Wenjun, Paehtz - Cramling, Gunina - Goryachkina, Lagno - Kosteniuk. Koneru - Kashlinskaya, Harika - Sebag.

The games start at 3 p.m. The final 11th round will begin at 11 a.m. (Moscow time).

The prize fund is 80,000 euros.

A vast additional program will be held during the tournament.
