V. Gunina, E. Inarkiev, E. Najer and I. Nepomniachtchi Lead Mark Dvoretsky Memorial

Final 4 rounds and commemoration meeting to take place on Sunday.


A rapid tournament dedicated to the memory of the Honored coach of the USSR Mark Dvoretsky (1947-2016) has started in the Central Chess Club in Moscow on December 8. Ten grandmasters, who were Mark Dvoretsky's students in varying years, are playing a round-robin tournament with the time control 15 minutes plus 10 seconds. 

After 5 rounds, the leaders are Valentina Gunina, Ernesto Inarkiev, Evgenij Najer, and Ian Nepomniachtchi with 3.5 points. They are followed by: 5. Vadim Zvjaginsev - 3, 6. Alexey Dreev - 2.5, 7. Boris Savchenko - 2, 8. Ivan Popov - 1.5, 9-10. Vladimir Potkin and Alexander Riazantsev - 1.

The final four rounds will be played on Sunday, December 9 (the sixth round will start at 2 p.m.). A commemoration meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. A special prize named after Mark Dvoretsky, which was established by FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich, will be presented during the evening. 

The entrance is free both to the tournament and to the commemoration meeting. A live broadcast with grandmasters' commentaries is organized in the Central Chess Club and on our website.
