Three Leaders Emerge at Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2024
Abdusattorov and Gukesh have caught up with Giri.
The seventh round of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2024 was played in Wijk aan Zee. Nodirbek Abdusattorov outplayed Anish Giri in a positional struggle to post a win in the endgame. Gukesh defeated Max Warmerdam in a rook endgame with an extra pawn. Thus, Abdusattorov and Gikesh have caught up with Giri.
Santosh Vidit bested Alireza Firouzja in a double-edged fight in the Najdorf Variation of the Sicilian Defence. The games Maghsoodloo - Nepomniachtchi, Wei Yi - Ding Liren, Praggnanandhaa - Van Foreest, and Donchenko - Ju Wenjun were drawn.
