Team Russia Beats Hungary in FIDE Online Olympiad Quarterfinals
Our players will face China in the semi-final.
The Play-Off of the FIDE Online Olympiad has started on Chess.com on the 13th of September.
The Russian team eliminated Hungary, having won both matches 3.5-2.5.
Match 1: Dubov - Erdos 0-1, Balog - Artemiev 0-1, Goryachkina - Papp 1/2-1/2, Havanecz - Gunina 0-1, Esipenko - Kozak 1/2-1/2, and Gaal - Shuvalova 1/2-1/2.
Match 2: Banusz - Dubov 1/2-1/2, Artemiev - Gledura 0-1, Hoang - Kosteniuk 0-1, Lagno - Lazarne 1-0, Kozak - Esipenko 1/2-1/2, and Shuvalova - Gaal 1/2-1/2.
Team China defeated Poland 4.5-1.5 and 4-2 to become the Russian players' rival in the semi-final on the 14th of September. The match will start at 1 PM Moscow time.
The Indian team won a dramatic match against Ukraine: the encounter ended on tie-break (4-2, 2.5-3.5, and 5-1). The USA and Kazakstan exchanged blows in rapid; however, the American team won on tie-break (2-4, 3.5-2.5, 4-2).
